A question of sleep?

What time was/is your toddler's bed time? How long do they nap? When do they get up?

We're having some sleep issues around this house, and I'm beginning to think it is time to reconsider our routines.

M currently goes to bed at 7 PM and gets up between 5:30 & 6:30 depending on if she wakes up when A gets up or not.

Lately she hasn't actually been falling asleep for at least an hour after we put her down. She is still taking a pretty solid two hour nap. I'm not sure if the issue is she just isn't tired, or she just needs that long to wind down.

It could also just be that she's going through more milestones. She is teething (though a dose of ibuprofen before bed seems to have no effect on this issue), and has gone through big changes at daycare. She also seems to be increasing her vocabulary by the minute.

Help? Just when I figured we had a good solid routine I could count on, she's gone and changed it again.

Oh, I'm so glad you brought this up - we've been struggling lately, too!

G. goes to bed between 7 & 7:15 as well, and falls asleep right away. Occasionally she sleeps until 6:45, but she'll sometimes wake up at 5:30. 6:15 is her usual wake-up, which sucks 'cuz that's when I'm trying to get in the shower & if I get her out and let her hang out with me, she'll just stand outside the shower and sob and try to hand me my clothes. *eye roll* Sweet, but not exactly helpful! :)

She takes a nap that's usually 1 1/4 to 1 3/4, beginning at 1. Lately she's been acting tired enough for an am nap, but then she DOES NOT/WILL NOT/CANNOT take a pm one, which is worse.

Ok, so, whew, that was long. Anyway, I'll be checking back to see if anybody has good suggestions for you, 'cuz I could use 'em, too!

Well, Mira usually goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:00pm, and then wakes sometime between 5:45-6:30am. She also takes one nap that lasts between 1.5-2 hours.

However, she has the World's Worst Cold(TM) right now, and it seems to have thrown her entire routine into the trash. She refuses to go to bed, and stalls constantly, waking up several times during the night and then spending part of the morning asleep on one of us. Like you, I want a routine again.

Otto (17 mos) was going to bed at 8 and getting up at 5:30 which was just to early for us!! So we have been gently pushing his bedtime back a bit- we're now at 9 and I think we will stay there...now he sleeps until 6:30 or 7 which is much more reasonable. He also is taking one 2+ hour nap and then usually a small catnap when I pick him up from daycare (around 5:30). (He's still getting up to nurse a couple times during the night, though, which is a whole other issue)!

But really...doesn't it just sometimes seem totally futile to even try coming up with routines?!? They change it up on you constantly!! :-)

casey (26mo) goes down between 7-8pm and usually gets up no later than 6am. occasionally he'll get up a little closer to 7am, but more often it's closer to 5am.
