Haiku Friday: A Monkey Prize

wild or classic it
just takes one pair to transform
footwear to primate

red face stripes argyle
so many choices of style
paralyzed by choice

I go for the wild
the crazy the absurd just
don’t forget the tail

Today's haiku is brought to you by The Great Interview Experiment. I was interviewed by San Diego Momma, who requested an on the spot sock monkey haiku. I couldn't let it go to waste, so there it is. She also asked when I'm giving away another sock monkey, so I thought I would combine the two.

So, here it goes. Leave a comment and you will be entered to win yourself your very own wild sock monkey. I was going to go for a great blue/green argyle, but if you win and have special requests, I'm open to that as well (within reason). Voting ends Monday August 11th, at 10 PM Central Time (aka bedtime). I don't sell the sock monkeys, because I don't have enough time to make enough to sell. I do like giving them away however. If you want to buy one I do have some great suggestions of wonderful artists who do sell theirs, just let me know.

Support Haiku Friday (and the rest of the blogosphere), visit A Mommy Story for more.

Here it is, the socks before the monkey. I'm nowhere near organized enough to actually have it done.
Update: Looking for the winner, see here. (Don't want to look? It was Birdie, comment number 2)

This is an omen from the stars above. Earlier today, I began to ponder sock monkeys for no apparent reason. Lo and behold, the sock monkey appears right here on your very blog in the form of a giveaway.
Thank Heavens you did not require a Haiku for entry; sock monkeys don't even know Haiku, silly girl.
I would LOVE to adorn my vanity with your handmade depiction of a sock monkey.
Thanks for the chance!

How generous of you! We'd love a sock monkey for play time. Our first baby is due in January and we're starting to collect items that will make the nursery and toy chest fun, useful and unique (without going overboard and having a bunch of 'stuff'). This would be a great addition, thanks!

I've always felt shorted for never owning a sock monkey. Kind of sour to my parents for denying me that:) Maybe I'll get to finally experience one, secretly of course, with my girls.

Thanks for the awesome opportunity!

I wish I could come up with haiku like that. :-) I would love to win a sock monkey for my daughter - my husband has one from when he was a kid and I have a sock elephant so Jaedyn needs one now! (And unfortunately I do not sew)

I would be thrilled to have a multicolored one for Jaedyn, too! So special, I know it would be something very special to her, she loves stuffed animals already (she's three months old now).

Thank you for offering a giveaway, I think it's wonderful!

Did you say sock monkey? Loved the Haiku and would really love to win your special sock monkey for my daughter. The funny thing is the colors of the sock you are going to use are the colors of my daughter's bedroom decor. Thank-you for the contest.

My 16-month-old can only make 4 different animal sounds right now. Luckily for her, growling is an appropriate noise for a lot of different animals. Monkey noises are her latest, so I'd love to win a sock monkey for her. She'd love it!

Amelia (Cocteau Twins have a song by that name),

Bravo to you for having the time to make a sock monkey with a toddler! I have a 34-month-old daughter and barely have time to breath with her sometimes!

I am not all into schmoozing to win contests, but just like everyone else here, I would love to have the wild sock monkey. So I guess here goes my schmoozing anyway...

My husband had a sock monkey as a child and I was hoping to buy one for our daughter some day, but just haven't yet. The design and color scheme of the sock is a great choice! I am so into unusual and quirky items. Normal can just be so boring after all! The argyle is cool because I can still remember the argyle socks my husband had on when I first met him at work all those years ago. I sort of had him pegged as a nerd based solely on those socks. Boy, was I wrong! He is just like me and likes unusual things (I guess that's why he loves me!!!).

Also, we long ago nicknamed our daughter "Funka Monka" (along with her many other nicknames, that is one of the regulars). We couldn't nickname her "Funky Monkey" because her aunt is nickname "Monkey." (On a side note, my nickname is "Goose!") We also call our daughter "Funka" and "Monka" for short sometimes.

That said, I would rename your wild sock monkey to the Funky Sock Monkey for our Little Funka Monka with Daddy's Crazy Argyle Socks!

Thank you for the opportunity!

I am going to sleep now. You should do the same! Sleep good, Momma!
